What is RSS?
This post is part 1 of the make money online beginners guide
As I told you in my first official post on Daily Burger, I will try to help (potential) new bloggers make some good money online. I assume you have no knowledge at all, so I will just start from the beginning. There is a LOT of information available on the internet. The only thing you have to do, is find this valuable information. After you found a lot of valuable blogs, you have to be kept up-to-date. RSS feeds will keep you up-to-date.
What are RSS feeds and how do I use them?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds are intended to keep you up-to-date. When I first started reading internet marketing blogs, I didn’t know what RSS was. Today, I can’t live without them. 5 months ago I was checking my favorite websites, by visiting them. Every hour, or so, I checked the site for new posts. RSS feeds make sure the news is brought to me, so I don’t have to F5 every site I want to check for new posts.
So, how do I use them
First of all, you need a program to read RSS feeds. Below follows a list with nice RSS Readers. The readers will check RSS feeds for you, so you save valuable time. The feed readers bellow are the most popular webbased RSS readers around.
- Google Reader (Google Account needed)
- Bloglines
How do I recognize RSS feeds?
You usually can recognize RSS feeds by there orange color. Some webmasters like to change the color, but generally they look like this.
You probably have seen an image like that on various websites. You can now click this button and copy the URL in your RSS reader. When your favorite blog has a new post, you will be the first to know.
When using a RSS reader, you will spare a lot of valuable time, which you can use for your own internet marketing blog.
