Daily Burger http://www.dailyburger.com earning 572 burgers a month Tue, 09 Oct 2007 21:01:18 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.2.1 en Win an iPod Touch (16GB) http://www.dailyburger.com/win-an-ipod-touch-16gb http://www.dailyburger.com/win-an-ipod-touch-16gb#comments Tue, 09 Oct 2007 21:01:18 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/win-an-ipod-touch-16gb You could, serious. The only thing you have to do is write about the contest, held at Rock & Roll Solo dot com. The winner will be selected at random on November 12. There aren’t many entries, so your chance of winning is really high. I highly doubt there won’t be any other contestants, but I don’t care. An iPod Touch is a really nice gadget, especially when it’s free :)

The contest is started by Bernard March, owner of Rock & Roll Solo. I think Bernard’s dream is to be a real Rock & Roll hero! On his blog you can find several guitar, drum and bass solos. The videos are really worth listening.

So, only thing to do is write something about Bernard’s blog and about the iPod contest. Go ahead and give it a swing!

Adsense Ban http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-ban http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-ban#comments Fri, 05 Oct 2007 12:55:39 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-ban Since I published my monthly Adsense earnings here, I thought it would be a good thing to let you know I got banned by Adsense. I made websites for one purpose: to make money (Made for Adsense) and since the Adsense guidelines are against Made for Adsense sites, I got myself a ban. The last ten days of my Adsense career, I made $1.100 out of my MFA sites. Unfortunately it didn’t last forever. I didn’t have other income sources, so I start with zero.

Here is a screenshot of my Adsense earnings in July 2007:

Daily Burger Goals http://www.dailyburger.com/daily-burger-goals http://www.dailyburger.com/daily-burger-goals#comments Fri, 05 Oct 2007 12:38:51 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/daily-burger-goals Since I haven’t blogged for some time now, I thought it would nice to publish a new post. I really forgot about Daily Burger and focused on my Dutch blog. My Dutch blog is doing really well, and I hope it will continue to grow. This blog, however, keeps attracting visitors and there are still some people subscribed to my RSS-feed. I really don’t know what you guys are doing here, but I don’t really mind! If you still subscribed here for some Adsense tips you did the right thing. This month I will publish some nice Adsense tips, to make more money instantly. I also will blog more often, because my English is really lacking at this point. I want to keep on blogging to increase my English and to make some more money of course :)

Goals for Daily Burger

Short term goals
I have some goals for October, which I will share with you.

- I want to increase the number of subscribers to 20 (not that hard, I think)
- I want to get accepted for a number of programs that will make me money with this blog.
- I want to publish 10 posts in October
- I want to make $10,00 with this blog

Longterm goals
These longterm goals are not really longterm, but I think they will do. Before December 31, 2007:

- I want to have at least 200 subscribers
- I want to make at least $500/month with this blog
- I want to finish my beginners guide

I don’t really know if I will be able to meet these goals, but I think they are reasonable. More posts coming up later..

Adsense Notifier http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-notifier http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-notifier#comments Thu, 19 Jul 2007 14:03:15 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/adsense-notifier Most webmasters use Firefox when surfing the Internet. Firefox is a really good browser, because it let’s you install different themes and add-ons. Themes make Firefox look pretty and add-ons will help you saving valuable time. The best add-on I have ever downloaded for Firefox is the Adsense Notifier.

Adsense Notifier

Adsense Notifier

This add-on will show your Adsense earnings for the day in the statusbar. Think of the valuable time you will spare not pushing the F5 button repeatedly when logged in to your Google Adsense account. The install is simple, just like any other add-on. Visit this link, click the install button, follow the instructions and you are done.

With a successful install, you will see your Adsense earnings in the statusbar. You can edit the add-on, so it shows you the earnings of today, the last seven days, the last month or even the last year.

It saves you a lot of time.

PageRank does matter http://www.dailyburger.com/pagerank-does-matter http://www.dailyburger.com/pagerank-does-matter#comments Thu, 12 Jul 2007 14:48:51 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/pagerank-does-matter Many bloggers tell you that PageRank isn’t important. Your position in the SERPs is determined by relevant incoming links, with a correct anchor text. PageRank is dead, and it doesn’t help you rank anymore. In fact, some self proclaimed SEO’s tell you that the whole PageRank idea is not important for anything anymore.

Focus on content, not on PageRank” and “content is king“, are some pristine statements that make me cry, because you should focus on both sides.

Why PageRank is important

In terms of ranking

A king can’t live without his queen, and content can’t live without PageRank.

PageRank and content should go hand in hand. Without content, PageRank is useless, and vice versa. The combination does the trick in the Google SERPs. So, write valuable and linkworthy content, and you will see your site gain spots in the SERPs. I have never seen sites rank for fairly competitive phrases with only content, and no incoming links. In fact, I have never seen such a site in the first place in Google.

In terms of making money
If you still are a firm believer that PageRank is not important, I suggest you check out some of the websites listed below:

* Text link ads: selling links for a minimum of $10.00 a month
* Review Me: $20-$200 for each completed review
* Sponsored Review: same idea as Review Me
* Pay Per Post: write about stuff and get paid.

The amount of money that you will receive, largely depends on your PAGERANK!

Next to this list there are some marketplaces where you can get in direct contact with bloggers/companies so you don’t have to pay transaction fees. Digital Point is such an example.

So, PageRank is important, for ranking and making money :)

* Note: I don’t like affiliate links on my website.

Make money online blog list - June 2007 http://www.dailyburger.com/make-money-online-blog-list-june-2007 http://www.dailyburger.com/make-money-online-blog-list-june-2007#comments Fri, 06 Jul 2007 14:24:18 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/make-money-online-blog-list-june-2007 I really love to read blogs that share their monthly earnings. I know a few other sites do this monthly post, but I think they are missing out a lot of blogs who publish their monthly earnings. So I decided to join in and publish a monthly list of people who make money online. This list will be very long (in the future), but it’s worth checking out all blogs, because every webmaster will motivate you in making more money online.

The rules to be in this list

You have to earn money with your blog, or with a network of sites.
You have to report your income on your blog, in a special post
You have to make more than $10/month :)
You have to report your income before the 6th of the month

The make money online blog list - June 2007

Note: the list is far from complete at this point, but I want to publish it anyway, because of the date. Every 6th of the month I will publish this list, and I hope that it will be huge next month.

      $12,569.61 earned by John Chow
      $9,048.00 earned by Everton
      $2,700.53 earned by Amy Bass
$572.92 earned by Robbert (That’s Me)
      $451.87 earned by James
      $436.29 earned by Anand
      $398.61 earned by Stephen Welton
      $384.22 earned by Mubin Ahmed
      $343.11 earned by Derrich
      $280.52 earned by Sabrina
$165.00 earned by Blog about your Blog
      $161.54 earned by Empress
      $151.88 earned by Carl Pei
      $116.30 earned by Derek Semmler
      $62.28 earned by Matt Huggings
      $64.00 earned by Danielle
      $25.92 earned by Casey
      $15.52 earned by Ahmad Affzan

Not on the list, but you should be?
Drop a comment with the URL to your monthly report. I will be happy to add your earnings.

PS: I know Paula Mooney’s list, but the thing I don’t like about her list is that the most bloggers don’t confirm their income. My make money online blog list is about BLOGGERS, who share their earnings spontaneously with their readers. And have posted their income on their own blog. Not that I mind that “big money makers” don’t share their income. You just can’t be on my list when you don’t :)

The monthly pay-outs! Last month I finally got my first money from Google Inc, transferred to my bank account. Unfortunately the dollar/euro exchange rate was really, really low. I earned $326,64, which resulted in a lousy €243,18. This means one euro is worth 0,744 dollars. I really hope the exchange rates will go up soon.

    Adsense earnings - June 2007

So, here is my Adsense report for June 2007. The money I have earned in June came from 4 websites in the Netherlands. When my English blog takes of, I will create some mini sites to earn some money in English. Before it comes that far. Here is my Adsense report for June 2007:

Google Adsense income report - June 2007

    Goals for Juli 2007

    • Make a $750 with Google Adsense.
    • Make some money with any affiliate program (diversifying my income)
    • 25 RSS readers on Daily Burger

Hope you will stick around, and help me make money online!

Get your internet marketing blog online http://www.dailyburger.com/get-your-internet-marketing-blog-online http://www.dailyburger.com/get-your-internet-marketing-blog-online#comments Thu, 05 Jul 2007 14:51:18 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/get-your-internet-marketing-blog-online This post is part 3 of the make money online beginners guide

Right. I assume you want to start an internet marketing blog and got yourself a nice .com domain. If not, no problem, just get yourself a nice Blogger blog or Wordpress blog and skip this post. We are about to install WordPress, a very helpful Content Management System (CMS) and get your first post online.

    WordPress, easy, simple and FREE

WordPress is a CMS. A CMS will help you publish your ideas, without having any HTML, PHP, or mySQL knowledge. It’s that simple. The concept of WordPress is “Write and Publish” and I like it.

    Installation
When you get your FTP log-in from your host, use a FTP program to upload the latest WordPress installation to your server. Make sure you upload it to the root of your server, so you don’t get a messy URL (eg. yoursite.com/wordpress/postname). U can use this documentation, which is very helpful.

Now, make your site look pretty
Get a nice theme, that you feel comfortable with, from the WordPress theme viewer. If you have downloaded a theme, upload it to your FTP server in the following map: yoursite.com/wp-content/themes/. When you login to your WP-admin, you choose “Presentation” and choose your uploaded theme to activate it. You can edit the theme later on, but now you want to write your first post.

Edit or delete the old WordPress post, and welcome your future readers. Congratulations, you are now an official blogger :)

In the next post, I will talk about optimizing your WordPress blog for Search Engines.

Start an internet marketing blog http://www.dailyburger.com/start-an-internet-marketing-blog http://www.dailyburger.com/start-an-internet-marketing-blog#comments Thu, 05 Jul 2007 14:42:51 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/start-an-internet-marketing-blog This post is part 2 of the make money online beginners guide

In my previous post on what is RSS I told you to find some nice internet marketing blogs. Internet marketing blogs help you understand the blogosphere better, because they are very informative for beginners and “experts”. I earn more than $500 a month online with Google Adsense, but I’m still learning the basics of the whole internet marketing idea.

I’ve not had any success on the affiliate market, I’ve never ever sold links on my website, I didn’t do paid reviews, and I didn’t use other CPC programs than Google Adsense. I have been missing out a lot of ways monetizing my traffic on my websites. I keep reading and I keep learning, and so should you. In this blogpost I reveal you the benefits of having your own internet marketing blog.

Why start an internet marketing blog

If you want to make money online, you should start an internet marketing blog. There are many reasons for having a internet marketing blog. The most important reasons are listed bellow:

    • You will gain PageRank (PR) by responding to blogs (*)
    • You will make friends online
    • You can give your MFA(**) sites a kickstart

Note (*): if nofollow isn’t used. More about nofollow later
Note (**): MFA stands for “Made for Adsense” or “Made for Advertising”. MFA sites are made with one purpose, to make visitors click your advertisements.

What is PageRank, and how does it help me make money?
    Google’s statement about PageRank.

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.” Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.

As you can read, PageRank makes your pages rank better in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). However, PageRank isn’t that important for ranking anymore. You can dominate the SERPs by gaining highly relevant links, with the correct anchor text (I will come back to this in a later post). You might wonder why you should gain PageRank anyway?

    - Websites with a high PageRank can sell links/reviews for big bucks
    - Websites with a high PageRank will be seen as an authority, which webmasters are willing to link to

Learn even more by making friends online
When you leave many useful replies on websites, webmasters tend to pay your site a visit too. They are most likely to respond to your posts, and share their insights on your posts. When this happens, an early “friendship” is born. You’ve got the same interests and you will interact on your sites. Later you will be mailing, and after that you might get in touch via MSN/mIRC. A win-win situation for the both of you, because the two of you know more than you know alone. A synergy is formed.

Give your MFA sites a headstart
The best thing of having a well known, highly linked internet marketing blog, is the opportunity to launch your MFA sites by a link from your blog. You don’t really gain a number 1 ranking in Google, but in MSN/Live this is the best way of giving your MFA sites a top 5 position. In my native language I’ve created a number of MFA sites, about loans, mortgages and insurances, all ranking 1/2/3/4/5 in the SERPs of MSN/Live. These sites bring in a nice amount of traffic each day, but I don’t earn thousands of dollars a month (yet).

So, stop hesitating and get yourself a nice (free) domain. You can start for free, but I advice you grab a .com name and put up Wordpress.

What is RSS? http://www.dailyburger.com/what-is-rss http://www.dailyburger.com/what-is-rss#comments Thu, 05 Jul 2007 13:48:59 +0000 Robbert http://www.dailyburger.com/what-is-rss This post is part 1 of the make money online beginners guide

As I told you in my first official post on Daily Burger, I will try to help (potential) new bloggers make some good money online. I assume you have no knowledge at all, so I will just start from the beginning. There is a LOT of information available on the internet. The only thing you have to do, is find this valuable information. After you found a lot of valuable blogs, you have to be kept up-to-date. RSS feeds will keep you up-to-date.

What are RSS feeds and how do I use them?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds are intended to keep you up-to-date. When I first started reading internet marketing blogs, I didn’t know what RSS was. Today, I can’t live without them. 5 months ago I was checking my favorite websites, by visiting them. Every hour, or so, I checked the site for new posts. RSS feeds make sure the news is brought to me, so I don’t have to F5 every site I want to check for new posts.

So, how do I use them
First of all, you need a program to read RSS feeds. Below follows a list with nice RSS Readers. The readers will check RSS feeds for you, so you save valuable time. The feed readers bellow are the most popular webbased RSS readers around.

How do I recognize RSS feeds?
You usually can recognize RSS feeds by there orange color. Some webmasters like to change the color, but generally they look like this.

    feed burner

You probably have seen an image like that on various websites. You can now click this button and copy the URL in your RSS reader. When your favorite blog has a new post, you will be the first to know.

When using a RSS reader, you will spare a lot of valuable time, which you can use for your own internet marketing blog.
